At Bookcon, I had received a signed copy of Melt by Selene Castrovilla. At first, I was not sure of who Selene Castrovilla was, but now I am happy that I do! I finished her book in two hours and I cannot wait for the second book-which seems really good!PLOT
The plot to this story was really interesting! I love how Selene Castrovilla gets into depth about the serious issues in this book. Melt has an incredible way of showing readers the truth of domestic violence, drinking, and other issues many people face in life.
Call me a grammar freak, but the shortening of some words and the neglecting of a few commas irritated me in a minor way. Also, some of Joey’s repetition felt unnecessary. Despite the minor dislikes, I personally enjoyed Dorothy and Joey’s narration immensely.
CHARACTERS AND CHARACTER DEVELOPEMENT
I thought that Joey’s character was very descriptive and put to life. Unfortunately, I did not feel that Dorothy’s character was as descriptive and alive as Joey. The next book, I think, will shed more light onto Dorothy. The character development of Joey was beautifully written- I do not want to spoil anything major about the story, so you have to read Melt to find out his character development.
Although I am not a fan of insta-love, I did enjoy Joey and Dorothy’s relationship. Sorry for anyone who loves insta-love, I just am not a believer in love at first sight. Joey’s protectiveness of Dorothy was beautiful and adorable!
Overall, I greatly enjoyed the book, and encourage readers to begin this captivating series!
